Salmonids in the Classroom web site

The aquarium water requires continuous cooling to 10C. There are three systems in use:

  1. REFRIGERATION

    These refrigeration units are designed for salmonids in the classroom. They will fit either our 20 or 33 gallon tanks. They have a coil of stainless steel that sits inside the aquarium. Cost is approximately $1000.00. Please order directly from either of these suppliers.
    Funding for Salmonids in the Classroom refrigeration units may be applied for online at TD Friends of the Environment.

  2. COLD TAP WATER

    This is achieved by circulating cold tap water through plastic tubing inside the tank. Depending on location and/or school district, additional guidelines exist, such as plumbing/backflow requirements and restrictions due to septic fields or wells.
